Passage des Panoramas

Passages seem to have been the shopping malls of the 19th century. The Passage des Panoramas is one of the oldest that’s still around.

Robert Fulton, of steamboat fame, set up paintings of panoramas of famous cities here and charged people to see them. Unfortunately, the rotundas where they were shown are long gone, replaced with shops.

A bit more information about the Passage is here.
